I was just thinking it would be fun to do a little DJ set of the people here on the forum. So if you're a producer and would like me to play your songs in it let me know. I do a little DJing in my spare time so this could be cool.

I can broadcast it live online but I'll need a couple of people here with good broadband connections to help mirror it if there will be more than 2 people listening. lol

Also what is the best time for you guys. I was thinking maybe a Saturday around 7 P.M. GMT (11 A.M. Pacific, 2 P.M. Eastern)...

Anyway... what do you think? Good idea? No? Don't care? lol. Let me know. Just an idea I had... :D
  2. Trancefuzion1 Oct 2003, 04:04
Oh and criteria for the tracks.

Preferrably exceeding 4 minutes in length but thats not essential.
It also needs to be in beats of 32 following a standard buildup/breakdown so I can mix it. hehe
  3. Tim1 Oct 2003, 08:15
Sounds like a cool idea, you can use my track if you want (in the promote your stuff section, or direct link http://besamusca.web1000.com/4th.html)

Great song! I'll definitely stick it in there!!!

    Anyone else???
  5. TranceSynthVania1 Oct 2003, 12:16
You can use my song "Inside You Mind", tho it is not finished yet. I'll try to finish it asap. I think it'll be good for a DJ set actually :) I'll let you know when it's out. Otherwise feel free to use any other of my songs if you want that.
  6. David McGowan1 Oct 2003, 17:18
Yo i work for an ISP so i could mirror easilly with a decent amount of bandwidth, saterdays i work 12 - 8... but actually i guess i dont need to be there to help out, oh and you can play my track if you like.

    David
  7. DjDaed1 Oct 2003, 20:02
Sure, you can mix one of mine. How about Fly Away (Extended Club Mix).

It follows the "Standard" trance structure. 32 beats per bar, has strings, pads, leads, bass, and a running bassline (Similar to t[]c)

    You're all in.

David: That would be tight. Could you possibly do it AT the ISP so we have more bandwidth?
  9. David McGowan1 Oct 2003, 22:53
Depends.. ive never messed with that stuff, but i have a slackware9 server connected to the network which has 3 t1's, so .. should work, just need to figure it all out.

    David

Hit me up on AIM or MSN

I think i have your screen name , wernt you DancMIXX or something along time ago ?
  10. Trancefuzion1 Oct 2003, 23:56
Yeah I have your AIM and yes I used to be Dance MIXX B)
  11. David McGowan2 Oct 2003, 01:24
Broadcast server is up and working, and we are able to stream, submit your tracks, for the set!!
  12. Trancefuzion2 Oct 2003, 01:32
Like David said. We've got it up and running. I just need to figure out how to do some voiceovers.

So PLEASE submit your tracks. I can take up to 2 and I'll also mix in some others and you can make requests. Anyone got any favorites they'd like to hear during the show?
  13. Matt2 Oct 2003, 16:07
i'll definately tune in to that as long as i'm around ;-) feel free to slip one of my tracks in too, if the one you want is unavailable because of my account expiring i'll send it to ya...

No worries Matt. You're definitely in there. I've got most of your tracks except for some of your new ones. I'll get it figured out. ;)
  15. Trancefuzion2 Oct 2003, 21:57
I just spoke with Alle. Both Imported Nightmare and Progression will be in the set. :D
  16. David McGowan3 Oct 2003, 00:24
Thats awesome which brings up another interesting idea, what about a t[]c audio stream, that streams only t[]c songs all the time? wouldnt that be cool?

    David
  17. BALLISTIC SOLUTION3 Oct 2003, 10:50
why not?! it's better than going to mp3.com & clicking "play all" all of the time. & as i understand it, there's t[]c tracks out that all of us haven't heard. i've got an interesting ( read: WTF?! ) track idea that may be ready for forum stream #3...just haven't worked it all out yet. you'll get a taste of it within the month...
  18. Trancefuzion6 Oct 2003, 07:18
Update time. David and I are collaborating on an intro track for the set. The tentative date for the set is October 25th at 19:00 GMT (7PM) (11AM Pacific, 2PM Eastern) but this could change at any time due to a number of possible circumstances.

The current lineup in no particular order excluding the intro track is:

    4th Dimension - Magical Land
DJ Daed - Fly Away (Extended Club Mix)
    trance[]control - Imported Nightmare (Chu-Chu Mix)
    TranceSynthVania - Inside Your Mind
    Sub-Conscious - Pressure
    trance[]control - Progression
Sub-Conscious - Losing Control (Trancefuzion Remix)
    Sub-Conscious - Surreal
    David McGowan - Trance Catalyst
    Trancefuzion - Distant Desire

If your name is on here once I can take one more of your tracks or if your name is not on here at all now is the time to get in. I would like to have all submissions by this Saturday (11th) so I can practice.

Immediately following the set which me and David have named "The TCF Experience" I will be doing a separate DJ set just for you guys for about another 2 hours. Who knows, I may go longer but that's just an approximation.

Also I'd like to know who is planning on tuning and whether you'll only be able to listen to the first part or the whole thing.

    Thanks guys.

Oh and by the way for those of you who can't make it I'll have a recording so don't freak if you can't tune in. B)
  19. BALLISTIC SOLUTION6 Oct 2003, 10:01
cool, i'm gonna have to get the recording...damn job...but then again, if i don't go to work, i can go to jail...hmmmm do they have broadband net connections in jail cells?

  21. Alle6 Oct 2003, 22:16
Hehehe, I gotta hand it to you guys - you come up with some pretty wicked ideas from time to time ;)

As for communicating during the mix-set, how about using the jIRC chat @ http://www.trancecontrol.com -> Click the logo -> Hit the menu where it says Chat & volia!

    :music: :woot:

How would you say that works?

Oh, by the way - is there a way for us to set this up through the trance[]control webserver or will I need access to install additional software etc?

If so, I have a 10 Mbit connection @ home that I guess I can use to distribute the stream with a bit of help.

    Best,

The java chat should be just fine. In fact I was going to ask you about that.

David McGowan works for an ISP and has volunteered to host the stream on their servers. 3 T1 lines. It should be great but if you want to set up a secondary mirror in case some people have troubles with the primary I'd appreciate it. ICQ me at ▓ ICQ number hidden and we'll talk it over.

Yeah i think it should be ok , but perhaps we use the t[]c server for a relay which should be faster for the european listeners. Well have to see about that.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea. Takes some of the server load off of your ISP. Alle we need to talk.
  27. Trancefuzion7 Oct 2003, 07:08
Really guys I CAN use more tracks! lol Don't be bashful!

Also I want to know if anyone on here is on dialup cuz if you are we dont wanna leave you out!!!

SHOUTCast server setup is done in my end...
Got it setup for a maximum of 50 users.

    50 x 128kbps= 6 Mbit or so right?

Yeah that sounds about right, ill have to setup the relay stuff on mine. sick ATM so dunno when ill get it done but soon i hope.

    David

P.S Being sick sucks a salami
  30. DjDaed7 Oct 2003, 21:02
My new track should be up soon. I just finished it today. It is thoughtfully named In My Trance Controlled Dreams, if that is ok with you Alle.
  31. djdarkshade8 Oct 2003, 03:05
Sounds awesome. Know what? it sounds so awesome that if you wanna play my track (if it is found worthy), it's at http://dogbone.ptgamer.org/tiw.mp3 . And get this - it sounds so awesome, that I think I could prolly mirror.

I can't gurentee it yet but I'm pritty sure I'll be around. I got supposidly 325 so k per sec but uhh we did a test thing and it registeres at beyond T3, so I dunno.

    Anyways, yeah sounds cool.

I think monthly will be cool, weekly would be a lot of hard work! And not all the members can finish a new song every week i gues!

Tim wrote: I think monthly will be cool, weekly would be a lot of hard work! And not all the members can finish a new song every week i gues!

    Tim

Yes I agree but I dont think every week will have tc forum members in it. Just a set promoting the forum members tracks mixed in with regular other tracks should be fine. Its ok to play the same track two weeks in a row. :P
  38. AlexW8 Oct 2003, 10:54
Montly if we're just gonna have tc forum artists

Weekly if we're gonna play all kind of music
  39. TranceSynthVania8 Oct 2003, 12:06
    my vote goes to monthly
  40. BALLISTIC SOLUTION8 Oct 2003, 14:09
monthly is cool, & i've got a question....not everyone of us has passable monitors (or for that matter, studio monitor headphones). therefore, may i make a suggestion that you who are well endowed with the studio gear master our tracks if you have the time?! i feel that there are plenty of people like me right now that won't submit tracks because of not knowing what it will sound like in the "real world". i live in a severely noisey environment ( an airfield ) & i couldn't tell you how my tracks sound w/o helicopters & jets landing in the background....
    anyhow...cheers,
    mac
  41. TranceSynthVania8 Oct 2003, 18:39
I dunno if he wants to master all our tracks, but maybe EQ them on the mixer to make them fit. Btw, if you are gonna master them, please don't master my tracks "Addicted to trance" or "Inside Your Mind", as I think they are decent enough :)
  42. David McGowan8 Oct 2003, 20:22
Well probably what needs to be done is , if you submit a track, if you want them mastered, please request it. sounds easy dontcha think. :)

David  iS starting to feel better now.
  43. DjDaed8 Oct 2003, 20:53
I am willing to master any track for anyone. Email me with a link, and I will get right on it!
  44. Trancefuzion8 Oct 2003, 22:11
I am not very good at mastering, sorry. But what I will do is tweak it in the EQ on the spot if it does need more of a certain range. So if you want it mastered look to someone else not me. ;)
  45. David McGowan8 Oct 2003, 23:39
Id also be willing to master tracks if anyone needs it. PM me, or email me at ▓ e-mail address hidden

    David
  46. David McGowan8 Oct 2003, 23:44
Also , if this becomes a regular thing. could we possibly have our own board or main thread for this ? That way we can keep everything together, and people can post there comments and what not on the set.

Just a thought , no biggie.. maybe we just need to see how it goes first.

    David
  47. Alle9 Oct 2003, 01:32
Surely no problems with an additional section dedicated to this - and I'll make sure to merge the topics later on as well. The reason I placed this in the news section was simply to enlighten the event.

As for hosting the stream I think I've got all I need. Thanks for the offer though.

:music: Just spoke to WennE as well as another DJ friend in Stockholm about this.

WennE would like to get some slots! Perhaps not for the set on 25th, unless we manage to make a lineup & create a larger event...

WennE would in such case be in my livingroom on two decks & a web-cam, while hosting a smaller house party. Same goes for our DJ friends in Stockholm.

I will talk to Digitally Imported www.di.fm about possibly distributing our stream through their page as well to expand the range of listeners...

    What's your opinion on this?

    Best,

    Alex
  53. BALLISTIC SOLUTION9 Oct 2003, 12:14
that rules! by god, i'm immigrating to sweden next week... my bbq post in the "off topic" section is coming true B)

  54. Tim9 Oct 2003, 13:46
OH MY GOD!! DI.FM WOULD BE SO COOL!

  55. Alle9 Oct 2003, 16:09
Ari @ DI.fm just got back to me giving his support...

DI.fm will host & promote the whole thing!

Now if we're to make this a monthly event, we gotta make sure we got a good line of Dj's - also making sure we are at least a month ahead of schedule. For this I would need help from anyone who whishes to help create a serious event. DI.fm constantly has a total of about 5-10k listeners...

I'll see if WennE will be able to do his set on the 25'th as well...

    The way I see things:
Event should have 2 slots - one for 'featured' one for residents.
We would need a few good resident Dj's, 2-3 that can take turns to do a 1 hour set.
Each event should be about 2 hours.
Resident DJ will spin 2 hours if we don't have a featured DJ spinning.

    Requirements for Featured/Resident Dj's:

    1 Mbit connection
Preferably Turntables but I guess CD would work as well...
A webcam would be very handy as DI.fm also support audio/video streams

Give me your input on this please...

    //Alex
  56. DjDaed9 Oct 2003, 16:18
That is a great idea. How exactly do you set something like this up? I mean, how would you do a live stream on the web? That just boggles me.
  57. Tim9 Oct 2003, 16:21
    I have a few ideas:

    - Live mixed (or prerecorded) mixes from members of the board: For example: Mix your favorite tracks or make a mix of classics and oldies (And maybe throw in a track of your own if it sounds good enough!)

    - Live sets instead of DJ mixes, People who have the equipment/software for it can do a liveset of their own tracks. For example: A liveset of T[]C on DI.FM how cool would that be!

    - And offcourse a mix of songs from members of the T[]C Forum

    Tim
  58. Alle9 Oct 2003, 16:25
    Quite easy...

Plug your DJ Mixer into your line-input on your soundcard in the computer... Plug the Webcam into your USB port. Run a coding/stream software on the computer that encode the input signal from soundcard plus webcam to proper format & sends it to the DI server for distribution...

I've requested a list of software needed (all free) and I will post this info as soon as possible.

I'm no mastermind when it comes to thiese things but I managed to send our studio webcam (audio/video) stream to DI.fm so that they could distribute our signal further.

    //Alex
  59. Tim9 Oct 2003, 16:25
    My point of view:

That 1st hour: Resident Deejay, 2nd hour: Guest Deejay. Is already used by some liveshows (Subtraxx experience for example). To really attract attention and get people to listen to it the show needs to be original. A live-act would be cool but offcourse it takes a long time to prepare it...

    Any other ideas...?

The whole meaning with DI.fm sessions is that they must be live, they don't allow pre-recorded stuff when they announce live-mix sessions.

We've been working on streaming our shows via DI.fm - this would be a good compliment I guess - and this also goes for the rest of the members of the forum, if you got a live-show coming up, let us know and we'll include you, and or simply get your stream on DI.fm.

I can spin, at the moment im low on vinyl and havent any equipment, but i bet i might be able to make something happen from work. I tentitivley say im in. i just need to either learn to spin mp3's or get myself some decks and a mixer.

I got 3 Dj's lined up, all with 10+ years of experience that're status GO for this, I'm also talking to one of these guys about turning this into a monthly club or semi monthly. The same guy also got access to some of Swedens finest Dj's. In the case where we might end up throwing an actual party here in Gothenburg we'll also make sure to do a performance every now and then ;)

hey feel free to use any of my tracks. wait til probably tomorrow and my newest track called "Big Shot" should be live on my mp3.com page. i'd suggest this one...i put the most time into it and took advice from people here on the forum to slow everything down and start tweaking (wasn't hard to figure out).

"Big Shot" is at 140 bpm, lots of bass, kind of a chilly feeling with a jumpy "chorus". I listed it as hard trance, but please tell me if it should be in a different genre.

    thanks

  71. Trancefuzion9 Oct 2003, 21:18
So I'm confused. This first set will not be on DI correct?

I really need to polish my skills if im going on DI even in the future.
  72. Alle9 Oct 2003, 21:38
No, we'll stay off DI.fm this time in order to make sure we got it all prepared - I also made a promise to Ari to give DI.fm a prenotice of 4-5 weeks prior to session in order for them to allocate people and promote the event.

    //Alex
  73. Alle9 Oct 2003, 21:44
As an extra note, DI.fm will not broadcast anyone @ any time - as long as there is at least one experienced DJ/Act that will draw attention we can still sneak in a less experienced one and get it aired. Another problem would be location, I'm not sure how it would work to switch stream source but we'll figure that out.

If worst comes to worst, we'll simply have to do ourselves (trance[]control), along with other experienced DJ's & acts on DI.fm and use the whole thing to promote our forum where we can arrange our own events.

I know a great DJ who's spun on DI several times and I'm sure he'd be happy to do it again. He spins trance and breaks mostly. He goes by LRCN. I'm sure he'd be good enough to get us on and he could be the headliner and then we can squeeze in ours.

As for the switching I'm sure Ari can tell you what to do for that.
  75. Alle9 Oct 2003, 22:27
    Good to know!

Just got the word from Ari, it's not advisable to switch stream source - way too risky and demanding to set up for them.

OK then in that case here's what I'm thinking. With the shoutcast plugin you can select the source, winamp and sound card.

So lets say for instance that the headliner DJ goes first. Well what we do then is that headliner first broadcasts to an exclusive server we tell no-one about while the person following up has the plugin set to winamp input. Then the followup DJ connects to that exclusive server and the dj begins to spin on that server. So its mirroring from that server coming through your system and then going out to DI. Then when its your turn you just switch the input to sound card on the plugin and begin your set. Switching doesnt interrupt the connection so that is far more stable. Its roundabout for sure but it would work. B) It could go the other way around headliner last. It would just work the same way. You connect to the DJ after you're done. ;)
  77. Alle10 Oct 2003, 00:28
I see your point, though we're not using Shoutcast to connect to DI servers - We'll be using Windows Media Encoder.... Don't think that can be done with WME

Boy this project really has snow balled. i think its pretty cool that we could actually have time on di.fm, and i think it would be really cool to get a chance to spin on it. But on the other side of things, i just wanna make sure were not losing scope of our original intent, which was to mix tracks that our forum memebers produce. i know since your putting your name and rep on the line , your going to want to screen tracks and what not , which will also mean that some tracks wont get played... i just wanted to make sure this was still part of the deal, or at least in the plan somewhere.

No it shouldnt be a problem. WME broadcasts sound from the soundcard. all you have to do is select stereo mix under the volumes panel by choosing options -> properties and choosing recording. then select stereo mix then it will broadcast any sound coming out of your computer. so we can still do it off that mirror. just turn off all messaging sounds etc.

"Big Shot" is at 140 bpm, lots of bass, kind of a chilly feeling with a jumpy "chorus". I listed it as hard trance, but please tell me if it should be in a different genre.

I wouldn't say it snowballed off, I'ts just me being ambitious about what I do ;)

Well i didnt mean snowballed off , i just ment it got bigger than we expected :) thats not a bad thing tho. I just had that little concern and i wanted to make sure i voiced it. Thanks Alle.

Other good news, i decided to bite the bullet and spring for some new equipment today , i bought some cd spinners and 3 chan mixer. Something ive been needing to do since my last rig got stolen. So when your thinking about dj's for the set keep me in mind, i do have more than a megabit connection at work, and a couple frineds houses, so im down to spin.

Time to start practing now tho. ive only mixed records, so we will se how much diffrent cd's are, its most just beatmatching so should be a prob.

    David
  86. ElectroBeatz10 Oct 2003, 19:42
so who here actually has some vinyls of their own music besides t[]c?

i don't know the first thing about spinning, but my friend is good at it. let me know who's selling their vinyl so i can get him a copy. also, t[]c, is it still possible to get your vinyls, or are they pretty much rarer than a chocolate milk cow?
  87. Alle10 Oct 2003, 20:30
Our previous releases are of the hard-to-get kind... However we'll have a new line of stuff coming out on 12" by Feb 2004 through a label that's being started by our UK agent. I'll also be visiting MAD Records in London, UK to discuss a few possible hardtrance releases...

Keep your fingers X-ed for a good, productive 2004

OK guys I was just thinking. Maybe we're being a little TOO ambitious here. Sure its a great idea and I'm excited too but maybe we're taking it a little too fast? I think we need to develop our system, get good experience doing this, and THEN go onto DI not jump straight in. I'm not against getting on DI at all I just think we need to be secure in what we're doing FIRST so that we don't make fools of ourselves on DI.
  89. Alle10 Oct 2003, 20:55
I actually agree with you ;)

Not that we're taking this too fast but we'd better develope our own system as TF says. If not simply to have who ever is going to Dj get comfy behind the decks before we expose ourselves to a potential of (just checked the listener stats on di.fm) 15,000 or so potential listeners/viewers...

I have a lot of ideas going on right now, and one of them is to arrange a clubnight here in Gothenburg, have me and WennE doing a performance while broadcasting the thing live through di.fm... And to keep this going, also use other DJ's & acts that we gotten/get to know. No bigscale party, just a minor clubnight and keep the main audience online... It might actually turn out to be a Pay Per View video stream and free audiostream as di.fm pay quite a bit for their bandwith nowdays.

However, the main idea with di.fm still is to promote ourselves, our forum and fellow musicians - There's a lot of activity in here yet we're only about 40 or so regiestered users... I'd love for this community to grow and serve more trance lovers out there with the same respect I get from/give to you guys.

    Best,

    Alex

    Hey everyone,

I'm looking for 3 people with broadband connections who would be willing to record the set in it's entirety and send it to me afterwards.

All you need is Winamp 2 or 3 and Streamripper (http://streamripper.sourceforge.net/)

Just be sure to be on time and connect a few minutes early so you don't start ripping too late.

So if anyone would be willing to do this please let me know. Thanks.
