Forum users on the Vault...

Alle,

I'd like to point something out to you since you were trying to port users from your forums to the Vault....

It's not necessary. You can just use a PHP script on the front end of the Vault that ties into the Forum DB in the same method as the forums do. Heck, you can even rip the code right out of the forums themselves, for the most part.

If you are interested in some assistance with that, I'd be glad to help out.

Thanks a lot! Got a million things on my table right now, and I did think about incorporate the VIP/MP3 Vault into the forums already - I'll surely let you know if I need any assistance.

It's not so much incorporating the two, it's more like reusing the user validation code. However... Incorporating the two would be pretty slick as well. And probably fairly easy too. For all I know, there may be a Power Board mod for doing exactly that.

You can choose to add either the files themselves directly to the DB (which you don't want to), or add links to file. You can also determine which of the groups on the board can access them.

Anyway... I'm not trying to push. I'm just trying to help. I like doing web stuff... It's all one big puzzle for me. :D

Kingster - thanks for the mod link - however @ this point with my fairly low skills in SQL / php code I don't want to risk sabotaging the forums. Besides, I could use the extra training in building my own content management system :)

I know it's stupid but I just like it better this way.
