    NAME: Riding Mary-Jane
    STYLE: Melodic / Progressive
    DURATION: 7:00
    PRODUCED BY: DjC
    FORMAT: [Server 3] 160 Kbps MP3
    STATUS: ONLINE - http://www.trancecontrol.com/mp3

This is the 24'th release since the start of our MISSION 2002 Project.

This track has a pretty controversial name, however the meaning is not what you at first might think. Mary-Jane is a mountain located in Winterpark, Colorado and this song is made to reflect my emotions during one of my snowboarding days up there. The track is a pretty odd one with a feeling of mystery and laidback vastness hanging over it.

I hope you will enjoy this release and feel free to drop your comments as a reply to this post.

    Best,

Just like Anticlimax its quite different from what I'm used to hearing from you guys. I like it though. Very smooth. Not a whole lot to say at this point but it will probably grow on me like most of your tracks. Good work Alle! ;)

i havent even listened to it yet but i already gave it a 5 :)

cuz i listend to anticlimax and i think this one will follow the same style and i'll like it

I love this song. Its cool as shit. Sound like a song i'd play while stealing a car and running from the cops. I like this a lot better then anticlimix, but i like that song a lot also. You guys make great trance to relax to 5 stars

Hahahaha!!! AWESOME SONG!! This is so great! I'm really into your new style... kind of mystic. It's so cool. This is one of your best songs yet, and I'm all about it. This defintily has to be on the playlist when you come to Seattle. VERY awesome song. 5 stars, no doubt.

    Nice Track ;)

Riding Mary-Jane: Good intro - not dependent on just a kick but also a great bass line going - I liked the electro sound of the intro and accents. Nice build and transition into the main melodic line. Very good mid song subtle build - and contrasting string line against the bass line. This song could easily develop into or be remixed into an epic trance and spend the last three minutes further developing and warping the main melodic line. Summer65

Not to be too picky, but haven't I heard this melody from you guys before? It starts at 1:49 in Love and Desire, and it's the pad melody at the beginning of Small Drops of Acid. The first time I listened to this song, I just thought, "so...no new melody?"

HOWEVER, the melody is done differently than the others, and I really like it! The ambient "mystique"-ness of the song is awesome. Isn't that why trance is called trance in the first place? ;) You probably should have called it "ambient trance" in the Style section. Anyways, the song reminds me of some other music I've heard, but I can't quite place it. Maybe from a video game? I don't know. Oh well. It's an awesome ambient trance track!

About the style of the newest songs, I was listening to Gothenburg Sound and remembering the feeling I felt when I first heard it. I just miss the melodies you guys used to come up with, they were so amazing. I miss the regular main-lead rhythms too. I think that's why I was so amazed with Perfecto—the main lead had both a wicked melody and rhythm. With the latest two tracks, they've been really reserved and simple on the melody scale. I guess it's just because it's a different style, but I really hope you guys consider making more tracks like you used to—classic t[]c style! :D

I like it! I like it! (Both the song and the new direction y'all seem to be taking.)

    Hmmmm, what can I say?

    ...Besides OHHHHH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOODDNESS!!!!!!!!

This song is SO much better than Anticlimax! But the title is a wee bit ''duhh'' if you ask me. All of your other titles have like 'special' names, like EPICENTER and IMPORTED NIGHTMARE, and here comes Mary-Jane...?

Well, anyways, EXCELLENT song! Love the dreamy feeling!

And, I also think you should add some more stars to your polls.....

Im going to have to agree with bluey on this one, This song was nice, but it didnt have anything that just grabbed me. It didnt seam to inspire any emotion in me. This song also seemed anti-climax'ish.

There were some elements i did like, the distorted sounding dirty detuned supersaw synth i like. i think it could be used again, in a diffrent song and a diffrent melody. im glad this song didnt use an offbeat baseline. however i didnt like the bassline at all, it seemed static , like a 16th note and a 8th note staggard line with delay. and finnally , the background melody with the soft sounding synth i didnt care for.

I just dont see this as a crowd mover, like imported nightmare.

    keepin it real.
    David

P.S i know how hard it can be to keep making yourself better, and better, and also to reinvent your sound to be new and fresh, yet trying to keep fans happy. You guys are doing a good job. keep it up.
  13. MrGoodbytes29 Feb 2004, 04:26
Lol now that you mention it, I do recognize the melodies. I think it's a good, laid-back tune, almost ambient like Bluey said.

I don't find it a particularly compelling track, but I still enjoy it. Ones like Touch the Lights, On The Other Side, Hyperdrive, Lobotomized Unicorn, Mystique, and Perfecto I can just crank the volume and sit back and feel something from the music, but not so much with Riding Mary-Jane. They all had really good melodies too.

It's still good work, not that I could do better. Don't get me wrong, I like this new style, and this track; I really enjoy Anticlimax, but Riding Mary-Jane doesn't do much for me like Mystique and others like it do.

4 stars for some good music to chill to.

umm the download wont work. in IE it plays in Quicktime and in MozillaFirebird, its a bunch of messed up code.
    Also, where is Telia?

I'm glad to read so many diffrent opinions about this song! We all got diffrent perspective of what we want, and I'd say this track is a brilliant example that shows we still maintain a broad spectrum of our work :)

t[]c lover - you seem to have problems with your computersettings rather then the files you download. Try re-installing Winamp or whatever player you usually have and your problems whould go away.

    Also, where is Telia?

    You need to either

In IE: Right click the download link and "Save Target As..."

Or in Firebird: Right click the download link and "Save Link to Disk..."

Also, while we're on the topic of Firebird, just thought I'd let you know that you can pick up the latest version. It's been renamed (AGAIN!) to Firefox and now has a whole bunch of great new features including a download manager as well as a bunch of bug fixes. So be sure to head on over to www.mozilla.org and get it. ;)
  17. Trancefuzion1 Mar 2004, 09:33
And Telia is a Swedish ISP I believe.
  18. t[]c lover1 Mar 2004, 23:29
well i tied quicktime up so it wont be bothering me anymore ;)

    t[]c lover:

If you have Windows Media Player, just copy the song URL and paste it into the ''Open URL'' menu.

BTW, when I try to download with the right click+Save Target As, it's not an Mp3 file, but a PHP...why?

    /Dragoon
  20. Alle3 Mar 2004, 10:15
Dragoon: Just tried the 'RightClick - Save target as...' version and it works fine for me... The filelocation is stored in the database and it's done this way so that you will have to go through the mp3 vault pages in order to download as it also checks weather you're loged in or not.

    Best,

    Alex
  21. Dragoon3 Mar 2004, 21:22
Hmz....just tried it again, but it still downloads in PHP...

Oh, and I wondered...Is it you who've made the homepages here? And what sort of programme did you use in that case?

    /Dragoon
  22. Alle3 Mar 2004, 22:46
Dragoon - Well if it still messes your downloads up then simply install winamp to restore the stream settings.

As for what PHP is - Yes, it's a code language like HTML, Java, and so on. Normaly used when using a hompage that communicates with a database.

Very nicely done with "Riding Mary Jane"! Some of best sound structure and form of trance I've ever heard :D. Keep up the great work, cuz I cant stop listening to something this good :music:

When you installed new software to fix plox's problem, the download speeds worked fine. Also I got FireFox, and it stops displaying garbage. A happy ending. Riding Mary-Jane is pretty good, but it seems to drone on endlessly and it starts to bore me.
  25. Gino TRANCE ORCHESTRA5 Mar 2004, 07:41
Very good sound, sound a lot bigger than Anticlimax. But i miss your songs with more melody. That's was the reason i begun listening to trance (Trance Control and Dynamic on MP3.com , Your song was different than the others trance songs.

Question: i got a lot of Softsynth and you seem have new sounds that i didnt heard before. Do you have new VST Synth?
  26. Alle5 Mar 2004, 09:19
Gino: We still use the same VSTinstrument setup - What you hear is just another way of combining sounds.

    Best,

    Alex

Winter Park, Colorado! Hell yeah. I am from Denver so I love Colorado and best thing... this song reminded me of CO when I first heard it 10 min ago. Funny how that is! I swear...Sorry I think it is funny as heck that it reminded me of CO and did not know the inspiration behind the song.

  29. Northern_Fist27 Apr 2004, 02:15
I really like this song. It has a real juicy beat and a flowing melodic rythm. I especially like smacking my knuckles bloody to this tune at open gym (DE do da WAAA <smack> <smack> - DE do da WAAA <WHAP> <WHAP>).
