    No worries 'DreaM' :)

As for what AKAI means - I don't know, however it is a brand (manufacturer) that hold various music equipment... Normaly when people speak of AKAI they refer to the Sample format AKAI.

So in short, AKAI is a format/standard for sample CD's.

As for other music software - Orion is suposed to be pretty nice, however Reason will get you far.

    Best,

    Alex

    Hi all,

I've heard that reason is pretty powerful, but another program that you might want to look into is Buzz Tracker. It's make by Jeskola, the same makers of Fruity Loops. FL went commercial, but I personally think that Buzz is way better.

It's called a tracker, but it doesn't use traditional .wav samples or anything of the sort. It uses C++ based instruments that actually generate the sound you hear as you play the song. As you can imagine, this will use a considerable amount of processing power on songs with lots of instruments and effects (oh yeah, the effects are generated too :P ). If you want, you can check out the site at www.buzzmachines.com. The nice thing about Buzz as well, is that for people with a fair level of C++ programming behind them (trust me, it's not rocket science), you can program your own samples and load them into Buzz.

If anyone wants to hear some Buzz Tracker stuff, check out my friends' site at http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/K3d/ and download Ditch. I think Feel Alive was also made in Buzz, but the guy who made that goes nuts on the distortion, so some people might not like it. I've been telling them to get more of their stuff up online, but they've been lazy.

If anyone wants to hear more of their stuff or just wants to chat, add me to your MSN (▓ e-mail address hidden).

    Cheers,

    Nick
