Alle16 Dec 2003, 16:39 Woaaaaaah!
It's been almost 2 months to this day since I last wrote something here... What can I say - Time seem to pass by at an incredible speed as I sit and watch a series of events happen without the ability to do something about them.
Ever since the Montreal event (when Sonicc AM screwed us over for our fee) I've been busting my ass trying to put food on my table. I was stupid enough to quit my job right before the Montreal event to focus fulltime on music again. The reduction of income would be compensated with the fee we where supposed to get from the Montreal performance, yet that didn't happend. Back then, quiting my job seemed to be the perfect way of ending the year and at the same time be able to be more creative.
I'm not going to make that misstake again though...
Today, almost 4½ months after the date when we first where supposed to be paid I'm still struggling to get Sonicc AM to pay us, though I don't have much hope of ever seeing the money we're owed. The current focus is simply to join forces with other ppl, who Sonicc AM owe money to, for a joint lawsuit. We probably won't be paid after a possible success of this either, however the comfort will come from knowing Sonicc AM in such case would be overthrown and non-operative for a long time.
While the stupid struggle to retreive our money from Sonicc AM went on, I also lost something very dear and precious... My girlfriend. She lives in Oslo, Norway (about 3½ hours away from me), yet as Sonicc AM never paid, I was left unable to gather the money needed to go see her. Time went on and about a month ago she told me she didn't want to keep trying to make this work. I was left speechless, not really sure how to tackle the situation, not knowing weather I should be angry, or sad and not sure of who to be angry with either. I suppose in a way this made me feel a bit lost in my own emotions - Not knowing how to end the chapter and why is pretty painfull and frustrating. One thing that I do know though, is that the only way to get out of this with an intact personality is to accept what's happened, deal with it and move on.
The past months hasn't all been about dark times and personal low-watermarks...
Nick Tornetta contacted me asking weather we where free to perform in Seattle in FEB 2004, and after some discussions the idea of putting a tour together slowly took shape. A pretty hard task to accomplish but why making things easy when you can do it the hard way :) There's still a lot of preparations with the tour to go and I'm very happy to have Nick helping out organizing the whole thing. Not too much can be revealed at this point but if all our plans fall through it'll be a radical start of 2004.
Time for me to dry up a bit - my neigbour just came rushing in asking for help as the taps in his kitchen started to sprinkle water as if they where built for firefighting in a megasized factory.
That was about all I had to tell for now - until next time,
Take care and be safe
Best,
Alexephex18 Dec 2003, 03:40 Wow. You sure have been going through some tough times. I wish you the best for the future, and I'm really sorry about your girlfriend...
Not much else to say, except good luck ;).teknodave23 Dec 2003, 22:29 Wow, that bites bud. I am sorry to hear that you lost your girl, and I never really knew the impact of this deal with Sonic was until now.
Life has been chucking alot of lemons at you, my friend. Keep on making great things in the kitchen with them, and things will turn out allright.DavidSKi22 Jan 2004, 21:50  ill tell you 1 thing Alex...
artist to artist. Women and art DO NOT MIX. even if your GF/Fiance/Wife was 110% about your profession, when things get ruff in the relationship, your art suffers. Fact of life. Same goes with Female artists, and men. I have never met anytype of artist that was 110% into his/her work and had a life outside of it. theres not enough hours in the day. But i promise you this, down the road, when $$$ isnt a problem for you anymore, All your X's will be comin out of the woodwork. Always happens.
Word to the wise, take the emotion that you have bottled up, and apply it to art. Makes the best pieces.
ttyl,
David SKiAlle22 Jan 2004, 23:51 Thanks for the advice and support...
However - In my personal opinion you should never 'bottle up' your emotions - let them out and your life will be a lot less inhibited...
:)DjDaed23 Jan 2004, 01:53 That is so true Alle, express with music.
