Where the heck is the "Sugar Shack" anyways, and what kinda events do they host? My roomie has heard of the place (he looks like a raver, but has never been), hence his knowlege of the place.impregum27 Nov 2003, 17:25 not positive, but the baltic room host a weekly called sugarshack.teknodave28 Nov 2003, 07:09 Well, that would probably be it then. Whenever I did a search for Sugar Shack in Seattle, Baltic Room kept pulling up, but was extremely vauge as to their relavence.Alle12 Dec 2003, 15:37 It's not going to be @ a weekly club or anything - the name of the party isn't yet set but we'll get back with more info as we get it.
As for the venue - we don't know anything about that either but it's going to be a rave of some sort. Not sure about the size but I'd say a venue that can hold aprox 2k or so ppl.
More info will follow - will talk to the promoters during this weekend to check up on their progress.
Best,
Alexteknodave13 Dec 2003, 02:58 I think I found a place for you ... not sure if it fits 2K, I did send an e-mail asking about their space. Its a club being built from scratch in the center of town, not far from the Space Needle.darkshadetoolazytologin21 Dec 2003, 13:32 Guys, I'm serious when I say that we should organize something at the Gorge in George, Washington. I'm not kidding, either. Say, 3 day deal, with everyone's favorite trance/d'n'b/electronica bands, etc.. People camp (sence people'd be comin' from outta state, sence it's near the border...) 'n' rawk on for 2 or 3 days. Set it up so we get advertisers, promoters, and sale people to rent space for tents and stands 'n' stuff, and while they kick back 'n' get rich, and T[]C and a few others kick back 'n' get rich, we kick back 'n' get rich.
For Creation (Summer fest thing at the Gorge - like 5 days) people charge 97 bux at the door. If we did 3 days, charge 75 bux, and we're all rich. Work up some charge for marketers... by like incraments of about 6 hours or so...
Get rich quick.
Lets do it.
If you wanna, let me know. I'm djdarkshade, but I'm just too lazy to log in. :P Aight so email me or pm me or something.teknodave21 Dec 2003, 19:40 I really like that idea. Playing at the Gorge would be a good plan. Its not that far of a drive from Seattle, and its halfway to Spokane, so those over there can head west, as well as several other major areas in eastern Washington (Pullman, Walla Walla, Clarkston & Lewiston (ID).
Doing a session in the summer would be cool. It's very warm and dry over there during the summer months!djdarkshade25 Dec 2003, 09:31 VERY warm and dry.
When I was there... 115 in the heat of the day, direct sun.
Mabey 105 in the shade.
You might be able to get 70-80 in the ice-chest.
You drink atleast 6 water-bottles a day and dont sleep in the day, sleep at night. Otherwize your tent overheats and you have heat exaustion. Trust me, I've done that before. It is not fun at all.
ANYWAYS. The gorge is a great place to do it - Huge concrete deal out infront of the stage, big macho (I mean this thing is giant) grassy hill, Nice huge stage, and a billion more amps then you can imagine - hold on, let me get some pictures.

(Yeah, Still Audio A. Yeah, they did lift the car on stage.)
lol Anyways, there's an idea.
It's a great place. Oh yeah, and if you get too hot, you can drive down the road a few miles to a park 'n' go swimming. Good stuff. It'ld take atleast a year's worth of planning, but it sure would be the gig of the year. (Get T[]C, Paul Van Dyke, RITM, Mabey some Gouryella 'n' The Crystal Method, Everything but the Girl... You know, just get a big ol' list.) Yeah. It'ld rawk bigtime. BIGtime.
Get like 20 - 30 bands (sence there is a fringe stage too) 'n' do a 2 or 3 day deal.
Right on.
Aight peace.
Later.
--==[Nathan]==--teknodave28 Dec 2003, 08:30 Now I am liking this idea more and more. Those pictures, especially the lighters, is just phenomenal!! B)
But just for the record, it normally does not get THAT hot there often. At worse, it would top off around 100 for a few days.
But definately, lots of water is a good thing to have over there, here is the averages for the area :::
......High....Low.....Mean....Precip....Record High.....Record Low
Jun : 79°F / 53°F / 66°F / 0.49 in. / 106°F (1961) / 33°F (1976)
Jul : 86°F / 58°F / 72°F / 0.29 in. / 109°F (1941) / 36°F (1962)
Aug : 85°F / 57°F / 71°F / 0.33 in. / 107°F (1946) / 37°F (1965)
Sep : 77°F / 49°F / 63°F / 0.44 in. / 100°F (1944) / 26°F (1985)

I think it would be a cool idea to hold an event of that magnatude. Lots of camping areas and stuff too.
But *shudder* my father works out there during the summer months.
But I found a *really* good arial pic of the stage and its backdrop :::

The capacity of the Gorge is 20,000, btw :music:
Is it not beautiful? Just be sure to bring a hat, shades and puh-lenty of sunblock! B)MrGoodbytes4 Jan 2004, 05:17 Sigh, still really far from Toronto, lol. Maybe on my summer trip with my dad out west we could swing by if we're in the States.
I still think that would be an amazing party, and it would be great promotiong for t[]c.
Graemedjdarkshade4 Jan 2004, 07:05 VAAAhhshiizle maahn!
You know, Dave, you, me, and Nick all live in Seattle. You dudes wanna see how hard it'ld be 2 put together an uber-gig?
Good picture by the way - I has havin' a hard time gettin' good pix.
Does anyone know the maximum occupancy for the Seattle Seahawks Stadium?
--==[Nathan]==--teknodave5 Jan 2004, 22:15 I think the Hawks stadium holds aroung 40K. That would be an interesting venue to say the least. B)
I was thinking the same thing, Darkshade (I think). Uber-gig?
I was thinking along the lines of getting a few videocams stratigically placed in certain areas, and I may be able to put together a decent video of the performance, if given access to the right editing equipment. :P
