FYI.

I'm very sad to bring you this news, but Ulric Jonathan, owner of Sonicc AM (our booking agent in Montreal, Quebec - Canada) is a fraud.

He's been constantly stalling the payment of our performance fee that he was supposed to pay to us 4 weeks prior to our performance on September 26, 2003. We fullfilled our part of the agreement, even though we could've canceled our performance on four various accounts and still get paid. He've made promises of paying on variuos dates that he failed to do and now he's hiding out - He won't even pick up the phone anymore.

The total fee owed to us @ this moment is $3,500 CAD and I will dedicate all my efforts to bring Ulric and his company down so that he won't be able to trick any other artists or DJ's. He's currently doing the bookings for bands such as Binary Finary, whoom I intend to contact about this matter. He's also doing the booking for Astral Projection for their performance coming up this weekend in Montreal - Already spoke to Avi @ AP about this and he know's what's up. I also contacted the promoter of the event we performed @ to let him know what's going on.

I will further more make a public pressrelease to be posted on DI.fm, trance.nu and other larger community pages to warn as many artists, dj's & promoters as possible about this guy. I embrace you to help spreading the word about this guy and to make it publicly known. I do have signed agreements between myself and Ulric to back up my statements and when spreading the news, make sure to mention that I'm the source of this information.

After this I'm going to contact local collecting companies to sell what he owe to us, to them. And by that leting the local company go after Ulric's finances.

If this don't work I will seek out legal help.

In short, I aim to bring Ulric and his company down while ensuring that he'll never work within this business again. And naturally I'm also going to enforce his payment to us. Call me harsh but I want to set an example out of him - sending a message to the world that you don't screw us or anyone in our presence unpunished. I won't rest until I get what's mine on this case...

Bummer, man! I hope that you get satisfaction one way or another. It's a shame that after working for your money you have to 'work' for it all over again. If the guy doesn't pay you what he owes you then I hope that he get what's coming to him so he can't cheat anyone else again. :madgo: Best of success in your efforts.

This over-sea's/across country lines lawsuit stuff is gunna suck - SHAZ man what is this goin' on? It's like the music industry has set up many people to get aquainted with you or something to shut you down! Well, thats probibly not true, but it seems like it's one thing after another... Your lawer is just gunna go crazy... Anyways, I remember that and I will never forget it, the time I saw my greatest idols. In other words, I will help you in any way I can, and if I get a record deal and some money, I will definetly donate some to you. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that I feel really sorry for you guys, who are always getting screwed and stepped on. But it's really awesome that you're still in the game and didn't get knocked down!
So if there's anything, I am more than happy to do it to help you.

As for donations - NO, please don't even think about that... This is a mess caused by our agent, I would feel nothing but bad if your devoted listeners & fans where to try and compensate our finacnial losses. We will get our money back, one way or another but I do NOT want them to come from donations. It's just wrong, even though they're made in good will.

As I said, this is Sonicc AM's mess - let the retributions hit the source instead of thirdparty people.

im upset that happened. i remember when anne savage was coming and a company out here in vancouver tried to do that to her. Anne's agent was very strict about not lettting her play unless the money was received 3 days before the show... as a result, my friend and i lost our $30 tickets. we have never gotten the $ back. it is truly unusual for an artist to be scammed out of money.

if you ever do come to vancouver, the only promoter i suggest you deal with is Azim, head of Twisted vancouver. He has held raves for the last 10 years with every single big dj in the world as headliners at one time or another.

Talk to your agent (unless you do your own bookings) and ask him what you can do under international law to get your money. Unfortunately, here in canada, 3500 isnt grand theft, so i would expect minimal police assistance, and a minimum penlty in our courts.

Just curious, what exactly do you charge for a show? what are your expenses, equipment that you bring, etc. im very curious to know this.

As for our course of actions against this guy... We won't get the police involved or anything - not yet anyways...

First we'll contact a local collecting company in Montreal that can buy us out. And then we wait... Sonicc AM will suffer a pretty hard blow from my online campagin of creating awareness and I hope it'll teach him to not step on the wrong toes again... Same goes for any other agent / promoter that would think of fooling us or ppl that are near us (including ppl at the forum or anyone who's in any way connected to us).

To rip of someone is bad enough but when you go rip off an artist who devote his/her life to what he/she does - that's when I turn from angry to furious...

Well the worse part, quite frankly, is that I happen to know the guy.

NOT PERSONALLY, thank you. I know him because I have, at one point in the past, had him book me for two or three parties.

Being a small-time DJ and not a big player, I'm happy if I manage to rack up a hundred dollars per gig.

Unfortunately, the times I had him book me, I wounded up with about HALF of what the promoter promised.

" Where did the rest of the money go ? " I said to myself the last time I had him book me. I confronted him and he said the promoter was just lying and trying to create a feud between me and him.

I knew this was just bull$h!t. So I told him to take a hike. A very long hike down a ravine for all I cared.

Obviously, he's gotten better at pulling his scams and if one of the people he's scammed does enough to bring his name ( and arse ) down, I won't complain. And you'll be doing a couple of promoters here a favor.

But of ALL people, it pissed me off the most that YOU guys had to go through this and I SERIOUSLY HOPE THIS WILL NOT PREVENT YOU GUYS FROM EVER APPEARING IN MONTREAL AGAIN !

By all means, not ALL our booking agents here are crooks and I hope everyone understands this. This is one guy who deserves nothing better than what you plan on doing.

You got my support and I'll let you know if your endeavors are working or not. Chances are, things will be just as negative for him here. We'll see and I'll let you know.

Honestly guys no matter how crooked this guy is , and no matter how bad we would like to inflict bodily harm. Posting a threat like that could back fire, and he could easily press charges of threatining bodilly harm, and for any of those in the armed force, that could lead to dishonerable discharges. Let alone it could be in canadas jurisdiction , or possibly sweeden since the actual server that holds the threat is housed there. which intern means you play by that countries rules, which might not be what your accustomed to. Be safe, edit your post.

I agree with David here - Though Ulric knows what he did is wrong... I do have an open conversation with him over the phone and if all goes we'll we will have this matter closed by this afternoon and then able to head on. In such case I'll make an announcement where I firmly state my position.

As for posting his address here - no way! That's out of the question. It's simply illegal as I don't have his permission to announce his address online. I do however have his permission to post his e-mail as a contact for our bookings (though conditinos for posting his e-mail wasn't restricted)...

I'll get back with more info & updates ASAP.

Still just talk - I'm not sure weather I'm stupid or just humain - got a sheduled phonecall @ 11 pm (Montreal, Local time) tonight, hoping to clear things out...

I'm not sure what to beleive anymore, however one thing is for sure - if he keeps doubblecrossing me with lame excuses I'll borrow the money needed from my mom to go there and deal with it myself.

Will keep ya'll posted - still hoping to settle the whole thing soon.

Still on the excuse basis - however things look more solid @ the moment. He claims to have gotten money to pay us via a large check that'll take 5-7 biz days to cash (Tuesday at latest). After that he'll pay me via a Western Union transfer...

This guy is just stringing you along. You've been more than fair, waiting for this payment which should have been made months ago. I would drop this nice guy crap and go after him legaly before its too late. There is a quote that ive heard and its quite interesting goes something like this.

"Anyone who does not pay you money that they owe you, is only trying to kill you."

I know this thing has been going on forever - though it's a very delicate balance here between right & wrong - in the sence of future benefit of trance[]control...

And by the way - as we didn't have a work visa for our performance - legal actions would not work - I'd simply be forced to first use a collecting company, and if that won't work - share his address to other ppl that he owe money... Though I don't want to consider that as an option.

I'm a very patient guy, and I try to seek out opportunity out of every situation - even the bad ones... It's a side ppl easily can take advantage out of, however I will not let myself be pushed around. I'm on a day-2-day phonecall basis with this guy and I'm pretty sure the whole matter will come to an end pretty soon.

I know how that can go. I have always been pushed around, and I have recently started taking a stand when faced with situations similar to that. It is a delicate process, and it could easily be swayed either one way or the other.

We can hopefully have this situation left behind, and you can focus on your 2004 tour. ^_^

I'm sad to announce the following...

It seems as Ulric Jonathan @ Sonicc AM was set out to screw us for our fee all from the start.

In a letter from Ulric dated August 13 - he claims that the promoters didn't have all the money to pay us - so he asked us to wait for about a week for them to get the money.

However after vast correspondance it shows that the promoters, 'Split Productions', paid Ulric a handsome $6,997.50 directly to Ulric's account. The massive fee, that was paid on May 15, 2003, was to cover the fee for Blank & Jones - that later showed to cancel their booking. So we where asked to perform, accepted and took the place of Blank & Jones.

So in short - Ulric had all the money on May 15, on August 13 he claimed the promoters didn't have the money to pay us, we performed on September 26, and today - on December 04, 2003 Ulric still claim to have no money and he still didn't pay us.

I've suffered massive personal, emotional and financial damages cause of this - I was nice enough to give him some time to pay - and not sending the collecting companies on him - now the wheels have turned - I still don't have my money, I got a handfull of collecting companies after me, can barely afford to put food on the table and Ulric suffred nothing.

A sad fucking story if you ask me...

Anyways - I'm currently speaking to other people who Ulric owe money to about joining forces and set after him.

I certainly hope you've got legal actions working on this. I remember you posting something about this quite a while back, mentioning the fact that you were going to your lawyer about it. What happened with that? If you have proof of the exact amount that Split Productions gave him, why not bust him on it? Split Productions would be one side of the proof, and actual deposit records from his account could prove the other side, as well as your side of the story. I can't see where Ulrich would build up any defense from with an argument such as that.

But of course, I'm no judge, prosecutor, defense attorney, or lawyer, so I know little about legal business and what not. But even so, from an outside perspective, I really think you have the ammunition to blow the G*# :angry: %A#$ :wacko: S&@T :pissed: out of his future. And if you get the help from other such victims to such a scam, HE SHALL BE OWNED. I'm sure that if you don't have the money to hire legal assistance, others will, and with the help of your evidence, their's, and many other's, your case is as strong as ever.

Just as it is with everything else trance[]control experiences and brings, your fans are always behind you. If pausing the music is what it takes to keep food :cheesburger: on your table, don't feel like you're letting your fans down, because you're not. We support you. We know what's been done. Thanks all of you - though speaking of donations @ this point is absolutley out of the question - I respect and thank you for your thoughts around this subject but it's simply wrong (said this before).

I get my shed of daily happiness by just reading the boards - money and fame would sure be nice - but I learned way back that money isn't what makes you happy - it's the struggle to reach your goal, and of course to reach the goal that brings you happiness and true joy.

Anyways - We're currently talking to ppl in Quebec, working out a strategy to nail this guy... He seem to owe a lot of ppl and we're trying to gather up n' join forces against him...

Not sure where all this will end up but I do know I'll have to focus even harder on performing work that brings money to my hosehold - meaning that I won't be able to be in the studio for the next month or so. Will keep y'all posted on the progress.

Then they both 3way with someone else, and so on and so forth. We get as many fans as we can on the same line (have the phone company hating us), and SPAM the guy. Call him both home and work phones till we get him on the phone. Then we can all yell at him and how dumb and stupid he is and how he needs to pay the cash or take the lash.

Or... We could set a specific time when we all call him. Like, around dinnertime. (Christmas would be good but sence that is technically today, then it'ld be kind of hard to coordinate. Anyways.) We can all spam him with calls, one at a time, and act like we're telemarketers, but add in little things about how he shouldn't skrew bands. :D

Well, I just read all 8 pages of this thread and I can't believe that faggot still hasn't paid. I don't think any more proof is needed to conclude that there is no God. And if there is any form of a supernatural being, he sure isn't doing his part of "justice" as far as I'm concerned. I'm a very cynical person. Personally, I think 95% of all people are assholes. But I don't think I've ever witnessed ANYONE as honest, sincere, hard working, just overall genuinelly good people as the guys in trance[]control. To be faced with all these unneccesary calamities, espicially to you guys, is truly an atrocity. There is NO ONE else out there more dedicated to their fans and devoted to musical integrity as you two and I get disgusted everyday seeing celebrities piss and moan when they fail to possess 1/4 of the talent in t[]c. You guys are without a doubt a true inspiration to everyone. Your music has more heart and have moved me more ways than any trendy song with lyrics, it's unfathomable. I wish you guys all the best in your future endeavours and do whatever it takes to keep the music coming.

I have organised a tour for dimitry here in AUS and New Zealand, deposits were paid, well in advance and ULRIC JONATHAN of SONICC AM decided he would pay the 'actal' agent the morning b4 he was to fly to Australia!

If any one else has more information on SONICC AM or ULRIC... 'd love to here about it!

Good part is that it's mostly promoters who ask me about him so my plan is slowly working well - making sure that 'Sonicc AM' won't ever be a trusted name again.

Not only have I lost the $15,000AUD that I paid as a deposit, but another $20,000AUD spent on advertising this gig aswell as f***ing my reputation with other Australian promoters and nightclubs, all because this f***er didn't come thru with the goods!

I sorry for your bad news. Please post any information you have about Sonicc AM - I am a Montreal Trance Producer and I know a few people in the Montreal Scene, but I have not heard of Sonicc AM. Does he use other names, website, etc...
